Providence, RI

Shopify design and development for Providence brands.

Looking for a Shopify agency in Providence? Start with what actually needs doing: build the store, redesign the one you've outgrown, or market it once it's live with ads, email, search and testing. For brands doing six to eight figures a year.

Email · a design system for the inbox

Email templates that look like the brand, and nothing else.

Davin & Adley makes modern pumping and nursing bras, and the brand's photography and palette do a lot of its selling. Providence's design-literate brands tend to hate a template that looks like everyone else's, and so do we.

We built a design system for the inbox around that look, then wrote and ran the launches, restocks and care guides on it across 2023–24.

The Modified Tot storefront, a personalized nursery brand we run paid and SEO for

And a maker off the marketplace

Modified Tot

A personalized nursery brand whose following lived on Etsy, scaled on its own storefront with paid, product pages and search run as one system. If your Providence studio sells mostly through a marketplace, this is the route off it.

Selling from Providence

The jewelry capital, and the design school that grew up beside it.

Providence's making history is unusually specific, and its metro crosses into Massachusetts. Each point carries its source.

  • The Jewelry Capital of the World

Providence earned that name through its jewelry trade; Nehemiah Dodge, often called the father of America's jewelry industry, pioneered the plated gold that made affordable jewelry possible for a mass market.

  • A school for the makers

RISD was founded in 1877, driven in part by the desire to support Rhode Island's thriving textiles and jewelry industries.

  • A metro that crosses the line

The Census Bureau's Providence-Warwick metro includes Bristol County, Massachusetts, and sits in one combined area with Boston and Worcester.

Get the store built — or get the one you have selling better.

A build is one project: the design and theme, your catalog, the move off whatever you’re on now, and a launch somebody watches. From $10,000 one-time, and you own every bit of it.

Already on Shopify? Shopify Growth keeps the store improving month to month, from $2,250/mo. Ads, email, search and testing go on top when they’ll pay for themselves.

Questions, Providence edition.

Are you actually in Providence?

We're a remote agency, so there's no office to visit anywhere — ours or anyone else's. Our people are spread across the US and we run on video calls, which is how we'd work with you either way. The work below is the thing worth judging — it's a fairer test than a pin on a map.

We're design-led and hate template stores. Where does that leave us?

In a good position, as long as the design serves the buying. The trap for a design-led brand is a beautiful site that hides the price, the sizing and the shipping — which is where taste starts costing money.

Rhode Island is tiny. Should we even bother selling locally?

Locally, probably not as a strategy. But the whole state is inside an hour, which makes in-person markets cheap to test and a useful way to hear the objections your product page should be answering.

We make jewelry in Rhode Island. What does the store have to get right?

Scale and trust, mostly. A ring looks different at phone size than on a hand, so the product page needs photos that show it worn, sizing that someone can check at home, and the metal spelled out — the questions a shopper would ask at your bench. Providence built an industry on making jewelry for everyone; the store's job is making it easy to buy from far away.

We make textiles and home goods out of a Providence studio. Can Shopify keep up with small runs?

Yes, if inventory is set up for it. Small-batch stock needs honest low-stock and sold-out states, pre-orders for the next run and back-in-stock emails — so a sold-out colorway turns into a waiting list rather than a dead page. RISD was founded partly to serve Rhode Island's textile trade, so you're working in a long tradition.

Where we work

Providence and most of Rhode Island with it.

Providence has an art school at its center and a jewelry-manufacturing past that never fully left, so the brands here are unusually design-literate and often make what they sell.

We’re a remote agency with a home base in Norristown, Pennsylvania — the team is spread across the country, with a good chunk of it on the west coast. Everything runs on video calls, so you get the same people and the same hours whether you’re downtown or an hour out of it.
