San Francisco, CA

Shopify design and development for San Francisco brands.

Looking for a Shopify agency in San Francisco? Start with what actually needs doing: build the store, redesign the one you've outgrown, or market it once it's live with ads, email, search and testing. For brands doing six to eight figures a year.

The fog is doing its usual thing.

San Francisco · comfort and sleep

A store that reads as calmly as the product does.

Gradient is a San Francisco brand in the comfort and sleep category, and the kind of product where the storefront has to feel like the thing it sells rather than shout over it.

It's one of the stores in our portfolio, and a fair example of what we do when the brief is restraint rather than volume.

Selling from the Bay

What the Bay makes, and where its freight comes in.

The Bay Area makes more than software. These are the conditions a consumer brand here is selling in, each with where it comes from.

  • Made here, on purpose

San Francisco themed its 2024 Small Business Week "Make it here," around the city's 550 manufacturers, which it says generate $833 million in revenue a year.

  • Consumer goods, around the Bay

SFMade's network counts more than 800 local manufacturers across San Francisco, San Jose and the East Bay, in categories including food and beverage, apparel, home goods and personal care.

  • Wine country next door

Napa Valley was the first American Viticultural Area designated in California, in 1981, and 95% of its wineries are family-owned businesses.

  • Freight comes in at Oakland

The Port of Oakland handles more than 99% of the containerized goods moving through Northern California.

Get the store built — or get the one you have selling better.

A build is one project: the design and theme, your catalog, the move off whatever you’re on now, and a launch somebody watches. From $10,000 one-time, and you own every bit of it.

Already on Shopify? Shopify Growth keeps the store improving month to month, from $2,250/mo. Ads, email, search and testing go on top when they’ll pay for themselves.

Questions, San Francisco edition.

Are you actually in San Francisco?

We're a remote agency, so there's no office to visit anywhere — ours or anyone else's. Our people are spread across the US, West Coast included, and we run on video calls. The Bay Area brand below works with us exactly that way.

Is a three-hour gap going to slow us down?

It would if we were all sitting in one place, and we're not — we've got people on the West Coast, so your morning is somebody's morning here too. You're not waiting until someone's afternoon for an answer, which is the real complaint about working with an East Coast shop.

We make our own product in the Bay Area. Do you work with makers?

Yes, and a maker's store has a different job from a reseller's. It has to show how the thing gets made, sell small-batch stock without overselling it, and keep wholesale and direct orders from tripping over each other. SFMade alone counts more than 800 manufacturers around the Bay — if you're one of them, that's the build we'd scope first.

We're showing at Winter FancyFaire in January 2027. Should the store be ready first?

Yes. It's in San Francisco on January 17–19, 2027, and a buyer who liked your table will look you up that night. Have the store live before the show, with wholesale inquiries going somewhere real and a way to keep the email of everyone who stops by. Working back from mid-January, a full build wants to start in the fall.

Our stock comes in through the Port of Oakland. Does that change the store?

It changes what the store should promise. When product lands at the port and has to clear a warehouse before it's sellable, restock dates move — so you want back-in-stock alerts, honest pre-order wording, and inventory that syncs from your 3PL instead of a spreadsheet.

Where we work

San Francisco, Oakland and around the Bay.

The Bay behaves like one market and the bridges are the only thing that disagrees. A brand in Oakland is solving the same problem as one in the Mission, usually on the same timeline.

We’re a remote agency with a home base in Norristown, Pennsylvania — the team is spread across the country, with a good chunk of it on the west coast. Everything runs on video calls, so you get the same people and the same hours whether you’re downtown or an hour out of it.
