San Diego, CA

Shopify design and development for San Diego brands.

Looking for a Shopify agency in San Diego? Start with what actually needs doing: build the store, redesign the one you've outgrown, or market it once it's live with ads, email, search and testing. For brands doing six to eight figures a year.

Long Beach · up the coast

Apparel that has to look like the brand behind it.

Darling Society is a California apparel brand in Long Beach, about a hundred miles up the coast from San Diego — near enough to be the same market, far enough that we'll name the actual city.

Apparel is a category where the storefront is the brand, so the design work and the merchandising are the same job rather than two.

And a build, start to finish

A Brighter Year

A founder's coloring concept turned into a custom Shopify store — later rebuilt from the ground up — with the ads and email that bring people to it. If you're starting from an idea and an audience, this is the build.

Selling from San Diego

Beer, the border, and one very big week in July.

San Diego sells to a border, a coastline and a convention calendar at the same time. The conditions a store here is working with, each with where it comes from.

  • The capital of craft

San Diego is home to more than 150 independent craft breweries, by the count of the region's brewers guild.

  • Trucks cross at Otay Mesa

The Otay Mesa port of entry is the second-busiest commercial cargo crossing on the southern border, and about 72% of California's trade with Mexico used it, Caltrans reported in 2022.

Start here

Get the store built — or get the one you have selling better.

A build is one project: the design and theme, your catalog, the move off whatever you’re on now, and a launch somebody watches. From $10,000 one-time, and you own every bit of it.

Already on Shopify? Shopify Growth keeps the store improving month to month, from $2,250/mo. Ads, email, search and testing go on top when they’ll pay for themselves.

Questions, San Diego edition.

Are you actually in San Diego?

We're a remote agency, so there's no office to visit anywhere — ours or anyone else's. Our people are spread across the US and we run on video calls, which is how we'd work with you either way. Our nearest California client is in Long Beach, up the coast — close enough to be the same market, far enough that we'll name the actual city.

We sell into Mexico as well. Can Shopify handle that properly?

Yes, and it's worth setting up at build time rather than later. The currency, what the customer actually pays on delivery and the checkout language all have to agree with each other, and a border market is the one place where getting that wrong is visible to a large share of your customers rather than a rounding error.

California privacy rules keep coming up. Does that affect the store?

Mostly the tracking, not the storefront. What the law asks of you is a question for your lawyer — we're not one. What we do is make the cookie banner, the pixels and the privacy policy describe the same site, so whatever your lawyer signs off is what actually happens.

We're a brewery with merch and a taproom. What does the store actually sell?

More than people expect: merch, glassware, gift cards and taproom event tickets, which is the half of the brand that travels well. With more than 150 independent breweries in the county, the shirt and the glassware are often how someone who visited once keeps buying from you after they've flown home.

We're launching something for Comic-Con in July 2027. When should the store be ready?

Before Preview Night on July 21, 2027, and ideally a few weeks before that. The people who find you at the show look you up that evening, so the drop has to be live, the stock has to be counted properly so a limited run doesn't oversell, and there has to be a way to keep their email. Working back from July, a new build wants to start in the spring.

Where we work

San Diego and the whole county with it.

The county runs from the border to Camp Pendleton and the brands in it are spread the whole way, which is why the list below is not just downtown.

We’re a remote agency with a home base in Norristown, Pennsylvania — the team is spread across the country, with a good chunk of it on the west coast. Everything runs on video calls, so you get the same people and the same hours whether you’re downtown or an hour out of it.
