Established brand · new platform
An established brand, moved onto a platform it could grow on.
Modern Prairie had a celebrity founder, proven products and a devoted community — everything but a platform that could keep up. That's common among St. Louis brands with years of history behind them: the business is mature, the store isn't.
We migrated it to Shopify in 2023, then built the email and paid programs it had never had. We're still running both three years later.

Three rivers, six railroads and a metro on both banks.
St. Louis has been a freight junction for a very long time. These are the conditions a brand here is selling in, each with where it comes from.
Where three rivers meet
The Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers meet in the St. Louis region, home to the nation's second-largest inland water port by tonnage and its northernmost ice-free year-round port.

Every Class I railroad
Greater St. Louis is served by all six Class I railroads, and is one of the few gateway cities where rail traffic can transfer between the eastern and western networks.

One metro, two states
The Census Bureau's St. Louis metro area counts Madison, St. Clair and Monroe counties in Illinois among its central counties.
Start here
Get the store built — or get the one you have selling better.
A build is one project: the design and theme, your catalog, the move off whatever you’re on now, and a launch somebody watches. From $10,000 one-time, and you own every bit of it.
Already on Shopify? Shopify Growth keeps the store improving month to month, from $2,250/mo. Ads, email, search and testing go on top when they’ll pay for themselves.
Questions, St. Louis edition.
Are you actually in St. Louis?
We're a remote agency — home base is Norristown, Pennsylvania — so there's no St. Louis office to visit on either bank. Our people are spread across the US, a Central Time day sits comfortably between our east and west coast hours, and everything runs on video calls.
We sell into Illinois as well as Missouri. Does the state line matter?
Not to your customers — Belleville and Edwardsville are as much St. Louis to them as Kirkwood is. Where it bites is anything set up by state: ad targeting aimed at Missouri misses the whole Metro East. We target the metro, and the river stops mattering.
We've been wholesale for years and want to sell direct. Where do we start?
With the catalog, and with honesty about price. A St. Louis brand with real wholesale history usually has the harder half already done — the product and the customers exist. The trap is launching direct at a price that undercuts your own stockists, which is a decision to make deliberately before the site goes live rather than after the first angry phone call.
We sell something heavy or bulky. Does St. Louis help with freight?
It gives you more options than most metros — every Class I railroad and a major river port are here — but that's freight for pallets, not parcels. For the store, what matters is showing the delivery cost and timing on the product page before checkout, because a surprise freight charge is where bulky orders go to die.
We're on the Illinois side, in Belleville. Should we call ourselves a St. Louis brand?
If that's how your customers talk about you, yes. Madison, St. Clair and Monroe counties are all central counties of the Census Bureau's St. Louis metro, and to a shopper in Kirkwood the river isn't a border. Use St. Louis where it helps people place you, and keep your real town on the About page and in the contact details.
Where we work
St. Louis and the Illinois side too.
St. Louis straddles a state line that your customers ignore and your ad settings don't. The brands here tend to be older than the coastal average and to have real wholesale history behind them.
We’re a remote agency with a home base in Norristown, Pennsylvania — the team is spread across the country, with a good chunk of it on the west coast. Everything runs on video calls, so you get the same people and the same hours whether you’re downtown or an hour out of it.
